Attention! Today I'm not going to talk about myself or anything I use. The spotlight is on my friend, Erica, who recently fell in love with Korean skincare. Erica knew nothing about the Korean skincare world and tackled her skincare troubles by visiting a dermatologist. She used the brands and formulas that her doctor had recommended and saw that the products made her skin worse. When someone uses product after product and isn't satisfied with the results, I think he/she has more reservations when trying new products. Erica definitely had her reservations.
Earlier this year, Erica and I visited Seoul for two weeks. Of course, when you're in Seoul, skincare stores are located everywhere you go, especially in the young, hip areas. You can't escape these skincare stores in Korea! I, being the skincare freak that I am, already had a long list of items that I wanted to purchase as I had researched them all online before in the States. So, I got down and dirty in those stores, walking out with huge bags of face masks, snail products, and other fun things that I had an impulse to buy. Erica witnessed all of this (including that time when I discarded all of the skincare packaging so that my check-in bag would weigh less on the flight home... I hit the kg limit exactly *whew*) and also decided to purchase her own skincare set from THEFACESHOP that she tried on her oily, acne-prone skin.
Erica found her solution. Within one week of using THEFACESHOP's Clean Face set, Erica saw that her acne was clearing up and she told me that the product felt cooling and relaxing on her face. At this point, she told me, "To be honest, I didn't really believe you when you said that Korean skincare products worked, especially for my non-Asian skin. I'll never use anything else!"
Erica tested the waters again with another American product a few months after she discovered her oily skin solution. Yet again, her acne flared up and the product irritated her skin. Once she patted on her Korean skincare, she immediately felt much better and more comfortable in her skin. "This stuff is SO much better," she said.
I asked my friend Erica a couple of questions about this product to help bring insight into this product and showcase her thoughts on Korean skincare.
Q: For someone with an oily skin type, what kind of skin worries do you have?
Erica - I have always had oily skin, and I didn't like having my skin look shiny all the time. My face felt tight and a little itchy. With the oil always clogging up my pores, I had trouble with acne as well.
Q: How have THEFACESHOP's Clean Face skincare products helped your skin?
Erica - THEFACESHOP's Clean Face skincare products have helped to hydrate my skin in order to prevent the look of oiliness throughout the day. With this new hydration in my face, my skin automatically started to show reduced acne.
Q: How does THEFACESHOP’s Clean Face skincare products feel on your skin? Can you describe your experience and any further details on the products?
Erica - To be honest, the products all feel really clean, bereft of harsh chemicals. With other products I had used, I would feel a burning sensation when applying them. The Clean Face products I use and the order I apply them are: Mild Toner, Spot Corrector, Mild Lotion, Oil Control Essence, and the Oil Control Cream. My favorite out of the group is the Mild Toner because I have never used a toner before and I truly feel like it preps my skin to absorb all of the moisture from the products that follow.
Q: What did you think of Korean skincare before you tried your first product?
Erica - I thought that the Korean skincare regimen included too many steps. I tend to be very busy from morning to night and didn't want to put that much time into my morning and evening routine. Being a Korean-based product, I thought that Korean skincare products were for people of Korean ethnicity and were strictly made for their skin type.
Q: What are your thoughts on Korean skincare now?
Erica - After trying Korean skincare products, I have found that it works for everyone, regardless of ethnicity. You just need to know what type of skin you have and buy the correct products to fit your skin. Also, after seeing the results, I now make time for a longer skincare routine.
Q: Why is skincare so important to you?
Erica - I am always meeting new clients for work, so I am always looking to make a great first impression. Your face is the first thing people see, and you should always take care of your skin no matter how busy you are.
Q: Now that you've found a way to remedy your acne problem, which skin trouble are you going to tackle next?
Erica - My next steps are tackling my dark circles and making sure my eyes don't look tired but are always bright.
Q: Do you have any last comments for vklSKIN's readers?
Erica - If you have never tried Korean skincare products, I suggest you start. Victoria told me about them all the time but it took me a while to actually buy them; now it is all I purchase. Victoria is a great resource for advice on skin-related problems. I am lucky enough to have a friend who always has the answer to my skincare problems. Thank you, vklSKIN. :)
